Phidippus asotus

Description

This listing is for Phidippus asotus large juveniles to adults at $15 each (note, we often have younger captive-bred ones offered through a separate listing). This species is cryptic in coloration with shades of gray, black and sometimes white. Some specimens reflect reds to pinks. There is a possibility that specimens sold through this listing are P. mystaceus, since both are similar in appearance, in the same species complex, and occur here on our property. We collect them sometimes before we mow, seasonally.

No tarantula can compare with the antics of a jumping spider in terms of entertainment. Studies have been done documenting the “intelligence” of these spiders as they strategize their attacks on prey. You can almost see them thinking as they direct their large eyes back and forth planning their next leap, even series of leaps to their destination.
