Description

Iphthiminus is a genus of tenebrionidae family beetle with a flat appearance and a preference for slightly more moist habitats than the other tenebs (family tenebrionidae) we tend to offer on the website. They are commonly found under the bark of fallen logs where they may feed on fungus to some extent and then venture out under cover of darkness to forage on other things. They seem to feed on all the normal offerings we give to other darklings and death feigning beetles and they do tolerate as much dryness as we’ve thrown at them, though we haven’t tested their tolerance levels. I might guess they pair well with diabolical ironclad beetles since both occupy similar niches in nature. They measure between 3/4 and 1 inch long, on average.

$9 each.

My desert beetle tank set up video (part 1) below showcases a very similar looking NW species called Iphthiminus serratus them at the 02:07 mark.
