The dirted tank microbe booster humus layer works to help you establish the microfauna and microflora a new tank needs to become a healthy ecosystem. While you can easily go out into nature and gather some muck from a pond, not everybody has convenient access to these materials from clean, pollution-free systems.

Our offering is for a fish bag with about 32 ounces of cypress seed clusters and leaves (humus) that resides on the bottom of freshwater creeks, streams or ponds and that is the foundation of every aquatic system. This product is something we culture for you to give you a boost of beneficial microbes including many unseen bacteria and fungal workers, and also small invertebrates that work as clean up crews in your tank and help break down wastes. The leaf litter layer provides shelter for these workers which will eventually breed and become dependable feeders for the larger pets in your tank. Set up correctly with plants in the tank too, and given time to mature, your aquarium can eventually become a mostly self-sustaining system that rarely requires any supplemental feeding or filters. Believe it or not! We will work here in 2024 to further demonstrate our methods to support this new sector of the hobby that we hope to help grow, just like we did with the desert beetle hobby a decade ago.
