The 2024 Sales Aquatic Insect Sampler often varies from week to week as to what it includes and based on current inventory.

Limit one per person, per order, sorry.

This is a grouping of bugs that can be kept together. Predation on each other is possible, but very rare and usually a case of the sick or dying being picked off, or the dead being scavenged.

The Daphnia/ostracods mix should be set up in a separate breeding container and will a couple weeks later be used as feeders and tank cleaners for your larger communal tank, where they are especially relished as a food source by the backswimmers and water boatmen. Feed a little

5 small backswimmers
2 water boatmen
2 banded diving beetles
6 black water beetles (mixed species likely)
2 water scavenger beetles
50+ Daphnia/Ostracod mix (we recommend you breed these separately in a shoebox sized plastic bin)
3 young blue ramshorn snails
Large algae pellet and small fish food pellets (food for beetles, in 1×1 inch Ziploc bag. They need just a couple tiny bits in the tank per week.)
Brewer’s yeast in a 1×1 inch ziploc bag (feed the tiniest pinch to your Daphnia/ostracod culture)
