Description
These small water scavenger beetles measure about 5 to 6 millimeters. They will scavenge on fish food pellets (sold separately in the links below) and a variety of other detritus in the tank including algae and decaying vegetation. We keep them with diving beetles and donโt see predation on them by the diving beetles.
These active beetles tend to be rounder than the flatter diving beetles and they move their legs differently. Swimming for them looks more like an effort, almost like they are crawling quickly through the water in the way their legs alternate back and forth. They add a very nice element of diversity into the tank through these unusual movements and the silvery sheen on their undersides (air they gather and store).
