Double Shield Mantis Large Nymph

Description

Pnigomantis medioconstricta is an Indonesian mantis with a most unusual pronotum.

The ones listed here appear to be males and they probably have 2 to 3 more molts to maturity. They are currently feeding on blue bottle flies, or similar sized prey. $24 each

Where dead leaf mantises and others have a widened area behind the head, this species actually has a constriction in the middle, forming a double shield. They are brownish to green as nymphs and the adults have a spectacular mottled and semi-glossy appearance.
