Description
Hamataliwa grisea is a common lynx spider species that ranges through the Southern USA and through to Northern South America. Lynx spiders don’t use web to capture their prey but instead use ambush and agility, like jumping spiders.
Note: We are 99% confident we have identified these correctly per a conversation with an expert on INaturalist but we do not guarantee that we have them correct, sorry.
Immatures feeding on fruit flies with no issues, with legspans around 1/5 to 1/4th inches or so. $4
They reach the size of Phidippus in terms of legspan and hunt in similar, perhaps even stealthier fashion.
