Apache Jumping Spider Captive Bred Juvenile

Description

The Phidippus apacheanus Apache Jumping Spider is arguably the most attractive native jumper species in the United States. Adult males are very brightly colored, often two-tone, and females are typically an orangey-gray color with black legs.

Now offering captive-bred small juveniles for $25 each! Limit one per customer due to low inventory, sorry.

They are small juveniles, well past the younger spiderlings stages but we are still feeding them D. hydei fruit flies (see related products below). Legspan on these is 3 to 5 mm. Get yer ruler out and have a little look-see! They can probably eat house flies or prey of similar size at this point but we are personally still feeding them fruit flies and recommend that. Besides, it’s fun to watch your spider eat and smaller foods means more frequent feedings….and that means more fun! 😉

These small juvenile jumping spiders hatched in early to mid July (multiple sacs/mothers) and have beautiful colors. They are offered unsexed only, sorry. They would be suitable in either our spiderling or medium sized habitat kits.

Please note that the main photo on this page is of a slightly younger spiderling. The specimens sold through this listing are slightly larger/older than that one. Some look like the secondary photo on this page. Some are currently more black than others. There is always variation and they will look different again after their next molt, and with each subsequent molt. It’s always like a grab bag or a Pokemon with an unknown next evolution!

We’d sell them as males or females if we could tell the sex with certainty, but we cannot and so they are offered here unsexed only. As they molt and grow they will likely take on different colorations, regardless of what sex they are. This is a beautiful species, through and through, all the way through!

The prettiest US jumper? You decide.
