Description
We are excited to present as a first time mainstream offering to the US millipede hobby the domestic native, Orthoporus flavior. Like the other members of the genus, this is a comparatively large, active and colorful US species. And like the more familiar Orthoporus ornatus, these come in different color forms. The color form we are offering is the darker, reddish brown form but they have a slightly more banded appearance than the similarly colored Sonoran/chocolate/Arizona O. ornatus, for those with experience in that species/morph.
We are not taxonomists but our sourcing tells us this is O. flavior and they do look different than O. ornatus.
See the one image on bugguide.net to see what these look like morphologically, however the color form we are offering is a darker one.
