White-banded Crab Spider CB Spiderling

Description

The White-banded Crab Spider is Misumenoides formosipes. There is a wide variation in the colors of this species and they occur in all but a handful of US states.

These are captive-bred spiderlings, available through this listing as 3rd or so instar immature spiderlings, unsexed. Their birth date was 10/21/2025. They fed on fruit flies in the first instar and we recommend D. melanogaster for them through the next molt, at least. These crab spiders typically camouflage themselves among pale white or yellow flowers and wait for prey. Sometimes they are found on other colors of flowers.

As adults they are not “big” spiders but legspan can reach to nearly an inch.
