Description
The White-banded Crab Spider is Misumenoides formosipes. There is a wide variation in the colors of this species and they occur in all but a handful of US states.
These are captive-bred spiderlings, available through this listing as 3rd or so instar immature spiderlings, unsexed. Their birth date was 10/21/2025. They fed on fruit flies in the first instar and we recommend D. melanogaster for them through the next molt, at least. We offer the flies and a caging product in the related products section down below.
$6 each
These crab spiders typically camouflage themselves among pale white or yellow flowers and wait for prey. Sometimes they are found on other colors of flowers.
As adults they are not “big” spiders but legspan can reach to nearly an inch.
Note: Main photo on page is the mother spider. The secondary photo of the spiderling on the fingernail reflects normal coloration for the immature spiderlings shipping through this listing. No guarantee on what their eventual color will be. In fact, it can change based on their surroundings as the video from our YouTube Channel below reflects! And then there is also another photo of the mother spider on this page. Males will develop into smaller-bodied, long-legged adults.
The white-banded crab spider section begins at about a 15 second mark…
