Toad Bug

Description

The Toad Bug is a pet insect novelty and they are absolutely adorable! They are smaller than a dime but they are known to live around one year and have been reported as living five years. These true bugs (Hemiptera) are adorable and perfectly named little bugs. They are predators of small insects. They are not aquatic, per se, but are always living in association with streams and creek sides on the shore. They are commonly found where the water saturates into the stream bank.

We keep the toad bugs together in a mixture of moist soil and sand and feed them with fruit flies that we have put in the refrigerator for a few minutes to slow down. You can also put them in a small cup to feed them individually if you want to ensure individuals are feeding.

Available as adults or nearly so for $4 each. Coloration and patterning varies and if you order groups we’ll pick out a variety for you!
