Description

The Hemiphileurus illatus lesser triceratops beetle is the small cousin of the triceratops beetle, Phileurus truncatus. Like its larger cousin, H. illatus adults live a couple years and will eat both protein and sweet liquids (like beetle jellies). It will eat other dead insects and even carrion, though in nature they also feed on the pupae and maybe larvae of other insects.

This listing is for a third instar LARVA of the species (immature grub). Sorry about the caps but I’m not yelling at you. I just need you to understand that you aren’t getting adult beetles because the universe directs lots of new keepers to the website and some people read and some don’t and some need bold capital letters to get the point. 😉

What do larvae feed on? We feed them exclusively on oak flake soil (sold separately, in the related products below, though they ship in a small cup of it).

In all of history and for the rest of your life and into the future, you may never see these available anywhere else. There are multiple reasons for that but never forget that life is short and there are more bugs to see than you have time to see them. Novelty is the name of the game. Diversity, the spice of life. Inventory on these is super limited.

Adults also relish some of the same jelly products and fruits as other rhino beetles but they crave a protein source and will sometimes tear other bugs apart to get it.
