Double Shield Mantis

Description

Pnigomantis medioconstricta is an Indonesian mantis with a most unusual pronotum. Where dead leaf mantises and others have a widened area behind the head, this species actually has a constriction in the middle, forming a double shield. They are brownish nymphs and the adults have a spectacular mottled and semi-glossy appearance. They are larger than many other mantis species as hatchlings and so we offer them a bit smaller/younger than usual.

Available as approximately L4 or so nymphs (have molted about three times), unsexed. $19 each and feeding on house flies. These are stout, robust mantises at this size!
