Desert Beetle Super Sampler

Mix it up with this desert beetle SUPER sampler pack! This is double the diversity of our normal sampler three pack with 6 different species guaranteed in this super sampler. Plus, there is a little more versatility in this group in terms of the tank needing to be dry. These beetles can actually take quite a bit of moisture in the substrate, which is a bonus for people that don’t necessarily want a very dry tank. But they are also fine in a dry tank, as long as they have regular access to foods with some moisture in them.

This product includes one adult individual from each of six different species of desert beetles. Please note that the photo on this product page does NOT represent the exact six species of beetles you will receive, and death feigning beetles are always sold separately.

The following beetles are currently being offered in the super sampler. No substitutions, sorry.

Updated 5/6/26: Blapylis, Cibdelis oak cluster beetle, Nyctoporis, Argoporis red-legged, Monkey teneb Coelocnemis dilaticollis, and Eleodes dentipes. Most of the time you can see photos of these other species on the site.

Bugguide suggests that there are 1200 species of tenebs in the US and Canada and this product grouping of sex species reflects their diversity.

All six beetle species you will receive can be kept in the same tank and will thrive in the same habitat conditions. The more beetles and the more variety that you have, the more interesting the tank is. A ten gallon tank could easily house a few dozen tenebrionid beetles. These six pet beetles can tolerate a dry tank or a slightly moist tank and so we have specifically selected them to ensure that they are able to tolerate a wider range of environmental conditions since many people have been asking for beetle that don’t want it super dry all the time (like death feigning beetles).

These six beetles live well together on dried pet food and occasional bits of fruit, carrot, etc. Each of these species is usually offered individually or in groups through this website, but they are discounted here as a ” super sampler” group.
