Description

The Texas Jumping Spider is Phidippus texanus. They are distributed through most of Texas and north into adjacent states and then south into Mexico. As expected, they are Texas-big!

One egg sac hatched 9/16/24. Spiderlings should be molted a few times and stable for shipping in November. Please get on the waiting list if you’d like to be notified when they are ready for shipping. Thanks!

Females look somewhat like Phidippus octopunctatus, but adults have much more patterning on the dorsal surface of the abdomen, which is ornately covered in a patterning of white and black. Chelicerae of the females are a brilliant, metallic teal color that really shines!

Males are large with red-orange abdomens, black legs and a black cephalothorax. White hairs and even a few faint gray to white bands are not uncommon on the legs. Chelicerae are a metallic greenish blue.

You can see photos of them at iNaturalist through THIS LINK
