Description
Polyphaga aegyptiaca is the Egyptian desert roach. This a very unusual roach species. Females look like large, rounded scarab beetles while males possess long, black wings. Feed them a little dried dogfood, fruits and vegetables. Like other polyphagid family cockroaches, their primary diet is dried leaves. This species does better in a dry habitat though egg cases need some moisture now and then to hatch properly.
Roaches love jelly products which are healthy, clean, don’t spoil and don’t attract pests or mold like rotting fruit sometimes does, particularly during warmer months of the year. I also offer mine fish food pellets in small amounts for protein and other nutrients. These small pellets disappear quickly and prevent attraction of mites, etc. Substrate in your roach tank provides both nutrition and humidity for your pets. My roach care sheet is located here.
Smallish nymphs available for $6 each.
