Orthoporus New Mexico

Description
These New Mexico millipedes are among the longest found in the US. They are currently described as Orthoporus ornatus, like other desert millipedes in the genus. Someday this will likely change.
$9 each. Limit 1 per customer due to low inventory, sorry.
They tolerate dry conditions for a while, but their substrate should be wet down from time to time as they do burrow to escape the desert heat and dryness in their native range.
This particular listing is for a rarely offered color form of the species. They currently measure around 3 to 5 inches in length. These are a lighter shade of brown than the desert Orthoporus that we offer from Arizona. Some specimens have some banding where the intersegmental margins occur, lending them a banded look.
