We are offering a Goliath beetle LARVAE through this listing. Get on the waiting list if you want to be notified FIRST when they come back in.
This point is mentioned repeatedly on this page. The main image shown on this page is a 105 gram L3 male larva.
Approximately second instar larvae available soon through this listing for $63 each, unsexed. Like other beetles, these go through 3 larval instars before they pupate (in an earthen cocoon) and then later emerge as adult beetles. Again, we are not offering an adult beetle, but you can see a photo of what the adults look like in the secondary photo on this page. We are offering the immature L2 stage (larvae/grubs), unsexed. If you order multiples, we will do our best to match sizes, but these grow very quickly at this stage anyway.
Thanks to the efforts of Steven Barney who worked to get this protein-feeding giant African beetle deregulated and then sourced and captive bred them here in the US. These have now been captive-bred in the US for many generations. Please email for the care sheet.
In some ways these are easier to raise than more familiar hobby species like Dynastes sp. which need difficult to source decayed wood as part of their diet. While it is important to give Goliath beetles a substrate to live in, they are protein feeders and will not eat the substrate and so the type is not too important. An 8 ounce deli cup to a quart sized container is a suitable for keeping the size of larvae we ship.
I will provide a care sheet via email with each purchase.
I have provided links for you below. These are Amazon Affiliate links and so it helps me out if you use them and are going to purchase these products anyway. I’ve tried to take some of the footwork out for you and nearly all of the guesswork. 😉
This 3 pack of coconut fiber bricks is recommended for raising larvae through their larval phases. This is a good, clean substrate that is uniform in its consistency.
These larvae are protein feeders and we specifically recommend premium koi fish food pellets because of the importance of their high protein/low fat ratio. We do recommend large 3/16 inch pellets as opposed to smaller ones.
These premium pellets are what I use:
The following product is important to encourage pupation.

This is the second purchase I’ve made from Peter. The first was a single L3 larvae that arrived healthy and full of life, despite almost being killed in transit by the Texas freeze of early 2021. The first larvae is nestled safely in its enclosure, inside its pupal cell. It arrived at my house, weighing 21 grams flat. It entered pupation around 45 grams and has been in its pupal cell ever since.
The most recent order I placed was for two more larvae. I’m hoping the one I have in pupation is a female and that I get a male out of these other two. My hope is that I will be able to get some eggs and start breeding them! Either way, if you’re wanting to get goliath beetle larvae from a reputable source, this is the place! They’re well taken care of during shipment.
