This listing is for one Fruit Fly Culture Drosophila hydei flightless fruit flies. These are larger than the other type of fruit fly we sell on the website. While these D. hydei have wings the flight muscles are inactive and so they, and the subsequent offspring produced in the culture, cannot fly. They are very active and generate a strong feeding response in pets that require small, live feeders.

We currently house and ship them in the convenient medium sized culture with the black “shaker” lid at $12.99, and as pictured in the product listing. Please note that these cannot ship via the non-living shipping option (like house fly pupae can).

Overnight shipping is required for the live guarantee. We include heat/cold packs at no extra cost. If your temps are outside of 33 to 83 degrees, be sure to choose the overnight option or we’ll be writing you anyway.
