Description

Euphoria fulgida are one of our most beautiful US beetles. Their colors really run the gamut from blue to red to yellow and with multiple transitional colors. Most often they are green, and sometimes they have white speckles on their elytra (wing covers). Prettier than any emerald, their coloration has a holographic quality that changes as light is reflected from the beetles at different angles.

We are offering LARVAE of this species as approximately 2nd instar. Beetle larvae (grubs for those not familiar) grow through three larval instars before pupating and then emerging as adult beetles. Please note that the adults beetles are pictured but we are offering captive-bred larvae of this species at $12 each.

Care for these is otherwise the same as the harlequin beetles we also offer through the site for many years now, with one exception. They do like a layer of clay on the bottom of the container to pupate in (like Chrysina spp.). A 32 ounce cup as is used for fruit fly cultures is just fine. As for larvae, they like flake soil best as most things do but they do just fine on compost and leaves like harlequin beetle larvae do.

It is recommended that you line the bottom inch or so of the enclosure with clay later as the larvae approach metamorphosis/pupation. Here is an Amazon Affiliate link for a product that we use and recommend: Georgia Red Clay

Here is my video about the harlequin beetles which looks quite different, being yellow and black, but I link this video here because it provides care info that can be applied to these Emerald Euphoria.
