Brand new to the website, Eleodes gigantea is, true to its name, a very large desert beetle species. Many individuals have a distinctive bullet-like shape, and they have a semi-gloss coating.

One of the diagnostic features of the genus are golden hairs that line the undersides of the lower portions of their legs.
