Description

Discogenia is a subgenus of Eleodes and that may mean that someday they are split off into their own genus, Discogenia. Time will tell, but for now we are calling ones that we offer in this subgenus, Disco Beetles, because, why not? Life is short and I’d rather be knee deep in beetles than nomenclature.

Also, they like listening the Bee Gees, so there you go. *shrugs*

Eleodes scabricula will serve as the species for now, so set your labels to that. Hey kids with desert beetle tanks! We are waiting for you to grow up and sort out all this taxonomy.

They have a round pronotum that sets them apart from many other tenebs, a pointed abdomen that tapers to a point like an upside-down Dutch clog (don’t try to put your foot in them), and some texturing in their abdomens.
