Arizona Elephant Beetle Larva
$19.99

Description
Megasoma punctulatum is US cousin to the giant Elephant Beetles that range from Mexico to South America.
Offered here as young L2 larvae for $19.99 each. A larva is the immature grub stage. Please note that these are NOT adult beetles being sold through this listing (for those of you new to beetle keeping). These rhino beetles go through three larval instars (L1, L2 & L3) before pupating (metamorphosing into adults) with the last larval instar being the longest and where they grow the most.
With access to a quality oak flake soil substrate, this desert species has the potential to grow much larger in captivity that its wild counterparts. Care for them is the same as for other rhino beetle larvae like Dynastes. They feed from decaying wood from hardwood trees. We offer a fermented hardwood substrate product called oak flake soil in the related products section below and this is both their food and what keepers put them in.
The (adult) specimen in the photo was from our first captive generation a few years ago and measures 40 millimeters.
