Description

This listing is for a single adult Chrysina beyeri jewel beetle. Sold unsexed, and seasonally available each year. Jewel beetles are considered by many to be the most beautiful beetles in the US. Adults of this species feed on fresh oak leaves, and will eat beetle jellies to some degree. This is not a long-lived species as adults but their beauty and deadstock value is worth the price of seeing them alive too! Moderately easy to breed. Fresh stock. Order multiples if you hope to breed them since we do not offered sexed specimens.

If you breed them, larvae can be raised on oak flake soil and then successfully pupated without clay, but more and more successful keepers are using it to line the bottom inch or so of the enclosure later as the larvae approach metamorphosis/pupation.
