Description
Available as about very young nymphs for $2 each.
The Madagascar Hissing Cockroach Gromphadorhina portentosa is the all-time most popular pet cockroach species. They hiss and reach three inches at maturity. They don’t bite and are very easy to care for. They won’t usually reproduce unless you keep them upwards of 75 to 80 degrees. They are quite content to live together in large numbers. Males are slightly territorial and will hiss at each other sometimes.
Please note that we have a variety of other “designer” hisser species, all believed to be pure blood stock (while no G. portentosa species “Madagascar Hissers” in the hobby are likely to be pure lines anymore). It is best not to mix different species of hissers as some are capable of hybridizing and the hobby frowns rather severely upon hybrids.
Roaches love jelly products which are healthy, clean, don’t spoil and don’t attract pests or mold like rotting fruit sometimes does, particularly during warmer months of the year. I also offer mine fish food pellets in small amounts for protein and other nutrients. These small pellets disappear quickly and prevent attraction of mites, etc. Subtrate in your roach tank provides both nutrition and humidity for your pets. My roach care sheet is located here.
Sorry, no shipping to Florida.
