Description
Glomeris pustulata is a small species of millipede that actually rolls up into a ball. Convergent evolution has led them to the same mechanism for defense that pillbugs (the roly-poly isopods from our backyards) have. These are millipedes, sometimes referred to as pillipedes, and their adult size is about the same as the average pillbug. Longtime hobbyists may recall the giant pill millipedes that were once available in the hobby (back in the late 90’s), but those proved to be horrible captives. While a few people were able to keep them alive for as much as a year or maybe two, captive reproduction proved to be impossible except perhaps in one case that I can’t substantiate without some research.
Available as immature specimens, but not nearly babies.
