Javan hissers, Elliptorhina javanica, are an attractive medium sized species of hissing cockroach that are fairly difficult to find in the hobby. They may be listed sometimes by the flashier common name “Halloween Hisser.” They are considered to be one of the most beautiful, sometimes displaying whitish coloration on their pronotums. Like other hissers, they do create a hissing sound.

Cockroaches nutritionally benefit from a substrate of mixed organic matter (see related products, below).
