It is otherwise everything you need to make 5 new fruit fly cultures, EXCEPT fruit flies and water. Trust me, I have to spell this out clearly and I will do so 8 times on this page, give or take. There are no living flies in this product bundle.

We offer this product as a backup plan for you once the media in your own previously purchased culture is being depleted, and so that you will be able to start a new culture (and four more besides) before you entirely run out of flies. Again, the 5 pack of kits purchased on this page contains no fruit flies. Living fruit flies are sold separately on this website in the related products section below.

Many people will purchase the 5 pack of culture kits sold through this page as a backup plan and along with a culture of flies purchased separately through this website (see related products below). This way, when your living culture is running out of flies you have the materials you need to set up new cultures. It takes a week or two for your new culture to begin producing flies (assuming you add your own flies to it).

• 5 large 32 ounce deli cups with a poly-fiber lids (standard escape-proof lids).
• a 6 oz jar of Repashy Superfly media mix (makes about 5 new cultures)
• Excelsior wood wool product (this is the aspen wood product that fills the air space between the lid and surface of the media at the bottom of the cups, and that the flies climb around on).
