Description
The Cecropia Moth (Hyalophora cecropia) is one of the largest North American moths. They are brown, black, and tan with large sections of red-orange. A real beauty! To view photos of the adult moth please visit Wikipedia here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cecropia_moth (note: wikipedia information is often inaccurate.) Currently available as cocoons. Supply is limited. They require a winter period in terms of temperature and light. Kept outdoors, they could be brought in as early as February and raised to room temperatures to break their overwintering stage. Hatching should occur within a month or two. It may be helpful to provide an artificial day/night cycle. In nature they would typically hatch in May or June.
