Hogna antelucana is a large species of wolf spider. I’ve seen some approach the size of Carolina wolf spiders, our largest wolf spider species in the US.
H. antelucana are generally pale and bulky but have nice markings on the cephalothorax and are a deep black on the underside of the body. Size varies on current specimens from 1/2 inch to 1 inch in legspan for the ones we ship. This is a new species for me and I’m only 98% sure I’ve got these Southern AZ spiders identified correctly.
