Description

Parasteatoda spp. (probably P. tepidariorum) are called Common House Spiders because they are found across North America. They are in the same family of spiders, known as cobweb spiders, with Steatoda and Latrodectus (black widows) though they are not known to have venom of the same significance. The coloration of immature specimens may resemble that of immature black widows, but of course they lack the red hourglass figure at maturity.

Size of specimens varies with season.
