Description

Oak logs are an often used tool in encouraging stag and rhino beetles to deposit their eggs. These attractive, natural logs are also sources of food and shelter for many other terrarium pets including millipedes, isopods, roaches and various pet beetles.

Free shipping on this product which tends to ship separately due to size and weight.

This listing is for one medium to hard decay oak log measuring 5 to 7 inches in diameter and about 7 to 10 inches long (these are averages). They would eventually decay in your tank into soft wood and your pets will convert them to soil, with time. The logs have been frozen for weeks or months here on site in closed up plastic bags to prevent the introduction of unwanted bugs into your tanks.

For breeding beetles, we recommend that you soak the log in a bucket of water for a day or two prior to burying it in your beetle breeding tank. Most people will peel off the bark at that point, for best results. We may have some already-peeled logs in stock if you’d prefer one of those.
