Found in
parts of Southern Arizona, this is one of the few US species with pointed eyes.
These grey to brown ground mantids camouflage themselves well on low shrubs in the grassy and sandy
terrain. At maturity, they are just over an inch in length. Their 3rd
pair of legs are longer, and aid in jumping. Two species of Yersiniops can
be found in the US- Y. sophronica and Y. solitaria.
