Giant Vinegaroon, Mastigoproctus giganteus
These whipscorpions (Arachnid Family- Uropygi) are basically harmless to humans. They are called vinegaroons because they can emit a vinegar-like odor from their whip-like tail. While they may be capable of pinching you with their unusual claws, it has never happened to me. They are nocturnal, timid creatures. Their front two pair of legs are modified into feelers that act like antennae as the nearly-blind animals searches around the ground for live prey. In captivity, they do very well on crickets and like a minimum of four inches of soil or coco-peat to dig a burrow in. Males tend to have larger claws than females. Otherwise, they are difficult to tell apart until maturity. Check out the video I made, below:
