Platymerus bigutatta

   Commonly called African Assassin Bugs, this species gets 2 white dots on it's wing-covers at maturity.  The aggressive feeding habits of this insect are very impressive.  The proboscis, shown in the picture below, is used to suck the fluids from other insects.  The proboscis can also penetrate human flesh, and will cause significant pain.
