Arizona Firefly

This interesting looking specimen is a female firefly.  The males are winged, and can be seen flying around down at Pena Blanca Lake in Southern Arizona.  They are only about 1 cm long, and light up in the air, for a duration of about one second.  This makes it very hard to catch the males because in between the times they blink, they fly a few yards from their previous position.  The females are eyeless and much easier to catch, moving pretty slowly along the ground.  They might possibly feed on millipedes.
