This list includes roaches that are popular in the hobby, as well as other cockroaches known to science. Very few roach species are actually pest species. Most are confined to their natural habitats and aren't able to establish themselves in other places. Some are tropical, while others have adapted to desert conditions. Some are considered "cosmopolitan" and live in cities. Blattella germanica is the German Cockroach. The most popular hobby roach is the Madagascar Hissing Cockroach Gromphadorhina portentosa.
